NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing Entrepreneurial Lead for Pre-Launch Drone Startup in Brooklyn, New York
A technical team in the Dynamical Systems Lab at NYU’s Tandon School of Engineering is working to develop and commercialize technology whereby drone-based electromagnetic sensors are used to determine a power line’s location relative to the drone’s position. This method would dramatically reduce potential collisions with power lines for both autonomous and manually-piloted drones, thus increasing safety and reducing risk. Another exciting commercial application is to develop a custom autonomous drone that could track the power lines and perform automated power line inspection.
