Glens Falls Hospital Crisis Clinician in Glens Falls, New York

The Emergency Services Clinician (ESC) has primary responsiblity for providing mental health consultations to the Emergency Department (ED) as requested, when the subject of concern in the ED presentation is psychiatric in nature. Treatment history is researched, the patient is interviewed, information is secured and provided to family and collaterals as appropriate, clinical information including diagnostic impressions and recommended disposition is communicated to the ED physician and supervising psychiatrist, and the contact is documented according to standards. When not engaged directly in conducting ED consultations, the ESC may assist with programming on the inpatient Behavioral Health Unit and/or perform other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in social work or related field

  • Minimum one year of experience in a behavioral health setting, or

  • Current license as registered professional nurse (RN) in New York with a minimum of three years of experience in psychiatrice nursing

  • Master's degree in social work or related field strongly preferred

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Certification as an MSW in New York or

  • Licensed RN in New York
