National Grid is hiring a Specialist, Energy Trading for our Customer Choice department in Hicksville, NY.
The Specialist will be responsible for all facets of the relationship as it relates to the natural gas retail access programs between the regulated company and the natural gas ESCOs in order to support decision making and the development of customer-related strategies to optimize business performance.
Prepare and analyze gas delivery reports for each ESCO’s pool in order to provide ESCO with daily and monthly nominations and ensure the accuracy of the marketer pool’s expected behavior
Calculate ESCO capacity release requirements and notify EP staff of the amount in order to deliver appropriate solutions, in line with National Grid policies and processes
Prepare monthly ESCO bills for services including calculations associated with Balancing Service, Imbalance cash-out, and penalty bills, monitor receivables for payment/late payment charges, and handle and resolve all ESCO billing disputes in order to manage and control specific cost variables
Responsible for ensuring ongoing ESCO compliance with company procedures and tariffs as well as Commission regulations
Working with internal departments to develop procedures and implement regulatory requirements including Tariffs, Gas Transportation Operating Procedure, NYS Uniform Business Practices, Electronic Data Interchange and Electronic Bulletin Board
Coordinate with Customer Choice colleagues to learn and administer those programs and respective regulatory implications
Miscellaneous ad hoc projects
Ensure quality level of customer service
Conduct collaboratives with ESCOs to address design issues of the retail access programs as they grow in order to support senior management in defining relevant strategies with a goal to standardize the retail programs across regulatory jurisdictions, where possible
Collate feedback and monthly metrics from programs in order to effectively track the effectiveness of current training initiatives and identify further skills-building needs of the Customer organization
Keep up to date with market / technology developments and external trends within the energy industry in order to ensure the optimization of best practice for National Grid
Develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders and business partners relevant to own area of expertise in order to share best practice and understand and challenge business decisions
Conduct the necessary analysis and interpretation of data in order to support business decisions that will promote growth opportunities while mitigating risks.
Work closely with other sub-functions in Customer, implementing sales / product / system training and providing support within area of expertise in order to enhance the organization’s overall skills and knowledge
Bachelor’s degree required and 3+ years of related work experience. Energy industry experience preferred
Strong analytical and MS Office skills
Strong communication skills and pro-active work style with the ability to work under tight deadlines
Experience interpreting information and building relationships
Working knowledge of appropriate risk management practices, accounting rules associated with energy commodities, and state and federal regulatory rules
Valid drivers license
