ABM Industries, Inc. PAYROLL SPECIALIST in Jamaica, New York
The Payroll & Accounts Payable Specialist performs payroll, accounts payable tasks and administrative functions for field operations. The payroll specialist must be prepared to handle payroll questions from employees and find resolutions to any concerns about their paycheck. Ability to perform office administrative practices and procedures, establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, clients, and vendors.
Responsible for the preparation and processing of weekly payroll. Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate reports.
Process PTO pay, employee pay adjustments, tips and post information onto designated records.
Request new or revised field employee paychecks from the corporate accounting
Process employee information, such as exemptions, transfers, terminations and resignations.
Create new hire profiles in payroll system. Update as needed, including but not limited to, Port Authority badge number, expiration date, customs seal color and add date.
Distribute and collect time-cards each pay period. Review and tracking of overtime report.
Process vendor invoices for payment.
Monitor vendor statements to ensure payments are up to date.
Correspond with vendors and respond to inquiries.
Research and process payroll discrepancies.
Perform compliance for unclaimed payroll checks.
Assist with the day-to-day efficient operation of the cabin operation.
Comply with all safety, security, compliance and quality standards and procedures established by AirServ, its clients, and regulatory authorities.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion.
Strong work ethic and team player.
Additional duties as assigned.

High school diploma or GED required.
Previous experience operating service vehicles preferred.
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Must submit to and pass a drug screen.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Must meet all requirements to receive required airport SIDA badge and Customs Seal (if applicable), including successful completion of a background check and ten-year work history.
