Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Surveyor in Jamaica, New York
Reporting to the Central Survey Group’s Supervisor or his designee, the candidate will be responsible for managing a diverse workload of surveying tasks within scheduled milestones.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following;
Prepare survey task scope of work and independent staff cost estimates for professional land surveying services. Review consultant proposal cost, and ensure schedule/budget compliance.
Coordinate multiple assigned survey tasks with ongoing construction work, engineering design and other stakeholders, manage with minimum disruptions to facility operations, while keeping senior staff and client departments fully apprised of significant issues and impacts.
Coordinate work between office staff, field survey personnel and consultant staff to ensure accurate work and continuous communication with all project stakeholders.
Preparing and executing quality control reviews, safety and quality assurance procedures.
Review incoming CAD files for clarity, content, accuracy and coordinate with survey Consultants and outside agencies.
Analysis and review of boundary surveys, ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, topographic and control surveys, construction surveys, legal descriptions and other related documents.
This position will initially be located at JFK International Airport – Borough of Queens, New York, in the Central Surveys group, but can be located to any other PA Facility within the Port District, depending upon CMD workload demands.
Applicant will be required to be fingerprinted and must be able to pass a background check and obtain a SIDA card per this Facility’s security requirement.
Candidates must present the following qualifications to be considered eligible for this position:
Bachelor’s Degree in Land Surveying, Engineering or related field from an accredited college or university.
Experience in managing surveys and preparing reports.
Experience in the preparation and review of surveys for design and construction
Experience with Civil3D, AutoCAD, surveying software, Excel and Word.
Minimum of Seven (7) years of related experience in surveying and management of same.
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Ideal candidates will present the following profile:
Professional License in Land Surveying in New York and/or New Jersey
Self-motivated and experienced in working in a team environment.
Ability to manage, and prioritize multiple assignments with multiple disciplines.
Proficiency and ability to meet schedules and budgets for project deliverables
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
