New York City School Construction Authority Summer Intern - 2019 in Long Island, New York

These Summer Internship Program ("SIP") positions are only open to New York City public high school Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors. The positon is designed for students interested in pursuing careers in various industries including but not limited to architecture, engineering, construction management, business administration, information technology, and/or public administration. Interns will be placed with a SCA host division or with a business partner firm or company throughout New York City. SIP matches interns to available positions based on their career interests and skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Intern hosts expose interns to their core business operations, assign interns to work with professionals in their field of interest, and enable them to participate in various business activities. Assignments may include reviewing drawings and specifications, drafting for students with AutoCAD proficiency, attending meetings, participating in limited supervised visit where appropriate, internet research, word processing, spreadsheet creation, and or outreach to vendors. Students work for six weeks, five days a week spending one day a week developing career knowledge and skills at a local high school, and the remaining four days performing clerical, career and technical work assignments for their intern host.

Minimum Qualifications:

New York City public high school sophomores through seniors with a grade point average of eighty (80) or higher that are eligible to work in the United States and available to work for the program's duration from July 8 - August 16, 2019.
