The research of the Center for Biomedical Science utilizes state-of-the art animal models, equipment and cell-based assays to discover and develop novel therapeutic approaches to treat inflammatory and metabolic disease, including sepsis and obesity-driven disorders.
In this role, you will perform research under the mentorship of Associate Professor, Valentin Pavlov, PhD, studying brain
mechanisms with a role in the regulation of innate immunity and inflammation and brain function alterations in the context
of inflammatory disorders as a major focus. Please click here to learn a recently awarded grant.
Performs research projects as directed. Follows and adheres to experimental protocols in a proficient and meticulous manner.
Responsible for the collection, analysis and interpretation of research data related to specific project.
Submits manuscripts and abstracts for publication to peer review journals and presentations at local, national and international conferences.
Performs a variety of tasks, including but not limited to, correspondence, attending meetings, database maintenance, maintaining records, charts, etc.
Responsible for all other activities, clinical and administrative, as needed.
Provides technical direction to research staff.
Doctorate (M.D., or PhD.) Degree, required.
Must have authored/co-authored published articles and/or abstracts.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Experience in animal models (including Cre-loxP system-generated models), neuroscience and neurophysiology (including electrical and optogenetic modulation of brain neural circuitry, and neuroanatomical mapping) and immunohistochemistry strongly preferred
Candidates with additional expertise in studying inflammation and metabolism strongly preferred
