Job Description


Assists in the design, fabrication, and development of various medical devices for use in the health system. Develops and establishes manufacturing protocols where necessary. Collaborates with both leadership and cross-functional teams to support growth and maturity of the department.


1.Develops and then produces 3D CAD files for medical device prototypes using engineering design software.

2.Operates equipment necessary for fabrication of medical device prototypes.

3.Provides Quality Control on 3D products to ensure that they are accurate and meet protocol.

4.Provides an innovative mindset and works creatively in collaboration with team as well as independently when necessary.

5.Responsible for ensuring all applicable regulatory requirements, policies, and procedures are followed.

6.Works actively with customers, as well as faculty to determine whether requirements can be met by modality-specific production mechanisms.

7.Directly communicates with the sites and the Director.

8.Responsible for establishing protocols when required and ensuring that current protocols adheres to requirements.

9.Authors new work flow protocols as needed.

10.Responsible for updating records.

11.Utilizes knowledge of computer networks and is responsible for trouble-shooting computer network issues in transmission of 3D files and manipulations performed.

12.Maintains work areas, equipment and supplies. Assures cleanliness and safety of work room and surrounding areas. Reviews supply levels, notifying the Director of the need to order specific items.

13.Identifies and trouble-shoots malfunction of equipment and reports to Director.

14.Assists in orientation of new technologists.

15.Performs related duties, as required.

Required Experience and Qualifications

*Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, 3D Printing, or related field, required.

*Minimum of two (2) years in 3D design, rendering, and printing software (Autodesk Fusion 360, Materialize Mimics, Solidworks, etc.), required.

*Understanding of various manufacturing processes (Injection molding, CNC, 3D Printing, and Design Processes), required.

*Knowledgeable about design validation/inspection (FEA software, GD&T, 3D scanning, etc.)

*Strong project management skills, required.

*Excellent problem resolution, critical thinking, process orientation skills communication (verbal and written).

*Excellent organizational skills and time management skills.

*Willing to learn new techniques related to 3D design, manufacturing, rendering, and printing.
