Our healthcare facility is looking for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team. This is a part-time position at 29 hours per week. At our Massena Behavioral Health clinic, the LPN helps to fulfill the care requirements of our patients. Under the direction of the Clinic Manager and Clinic RN, the successful candidate will work within their entire scope of practice. The LPN will be fully accountable for ensuring that the utmost in competent care and safety is consistently delivered to all clients. This opportunity awaits a motivated and ambitious professional. Experience with behavioral health and chemical dependency experience preferred.

Duties include:

  • Interview patients, review their medical history, present problems, allergies and medications.

  • Take vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration, height, weight).

  • Administer medications and document therapeutic effects.

  • Maintain accurate health record.

  • Review treatment plan, tests, and diagnoses with patients.

  • Execute verbal orders from the MD, NP and PA.

  • Prepare and administer injections.

  • Collect urine samples and monitor if needed.

  • Inform patients about the doctor's order or test results via mail or phone.

  • Help patients understand documentation or paperwork.

  • Assist registered nurses and other senior nurses in developing best care plan for patients.

  • Call pharmacies for ordering prescribers, participating in prior authorization process as needed.

  • Answer calls and reply to messages in an accurate and precise way.

  • Coordinate patient referrals.

  • Educate and encourage patients to avoid unhealthy routines.

  • Execute critical thinking to ensure all actions are within the scope of licensure.

  • Actively participate in the training and orientation of new employees.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) qualifications and skills

  • 1+ years' nursing experience

  • Current first aid and CPR certification

  • Current NY LPN license

  • Exceptional staff training and customer service skills

  • Compassionate and friendly demeanor
