Research, Development and Engineering Manager – Packaging & Architectural Solutions, Flexible Products

Description

This role leads all aspects of innovation, product/platform/application development and product support in support of the Packaging & Architectural product portfolio and business start-up. This role will partner heavily with business leadership to develop the product strategy, associated roadmap and resource planning/execution to deliver the associated business growth. This is an entrepreneurial high growth business opportunity within the Display and Flexible Technology Business Unit.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for Research, Development and Engineering aspects of the Packaging / Bldg & Construction business including new product vitality performance

  • Partners with business leadership to develop product roadmaps and manage product portfolios/investments

  • Leads development and execution of innovation/technology roadmaps in support of above product roadmaps

  • Leads customer application understanding and development to facilitate new product introduction.

  • Accountable for planning and executing collaboration programs through the whole life cycle, on-time delivery, cost and quality of new products and technologies to support customer, operating plan and growth commitments of the privacy solution business

  • Support development and execution of project management (PMP) and product lifecycle processes (PLC)

  • Supports quality, productivity and sustaining engineering initiatives partnering with customers and operations

  • Manages technology partners and supports new product related strategic sourcing needs partnering with strategic sourcing/supply chain

  • Leads sampling field quality processes working closely with field commercial resources

  • Builds strong teams and cross-functional engagement across multiple geographies & external partners including Sales, Marketing, Operations, Finance, Legal etc…

  • Communicates RD&E progress /execution to senior executives and stakeholders

Desired Skills, Competencies & Experience

  • Technical degree or equivalent experience with minimum 5+ years of relevant experience. Master degree and above preferred.

  • Material sciences, chemistry, optics and physics experience/domain expertise

  • Packaging & Architectural industry technology experience highly desired

  • Extensive new product development experience with a performance based track record

  • Strong program management and product lifecycle management experience

  • Talent Acquisition, Development and Retention

  • Customer focused – VOC domain expertise and strong customer acumen

  • High financial acumen and analytical/data/statistics oriented decision making style

  • Positive can do hands on entrepreneurial attitude that builds support for RD&E needs

  • Strong communication skills and interpersonal presence that extends confidence and humility

  • Experience building and delivering executive level presentations

  • Ability to effectively manage and deliver to multiple KPIs

  • Critical thinking and ability to influence and communicate effectively with multiple internal stakeholders (Sales, finance, marketing, strategy, management)

  • Excellent personal time management and project management skills.

  • Languages: English and Chinese.
