IAC Armed Security Specialist in New York, New York
Title: Armed Security Specialist Department: Security Location: New York, NY Reporting to: Manager, Security and Guest Operations Company: IAC (www.iac.com) Schedule: Monday-Wednesday 12pm-8pm / Saturday & Sunday 9pm-5pm Salary: Commensurate with experience ($30-31/hour range)
This is a full-time staff position and includes IAC’s medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) benefit options.
The Armed Security Specialist position is of key importance to the success of IAC as this is the first impression guests, clients, and potential clients have of the company. It is therefore imperative that a professional and courteous manner is always extended to all those who visit or call our facilities.
In keeping with the professional atmosphere of the office, the Armed Security Specialist is responsible for the physical security and protection of people on the grounds of the IAC building. Other responsibilities include:
• Provide armed security services in a professional manner; complying with all IAC security procedures, rules, and regulations • Ability to handle public interaction with disorderly or disruptive people. • Assist in close protection, risk management, and security operational planning. • Enforce rules, regulations, policies, procedures and respond to emergency situations requiring security assistance. • Provide executive protection and logistics support to company executives while on-site, and during special events. • Write detailed narrative reports and maintain daily activity reports • Mentor and train security officers to effectively handle emergency response and protection of corporate executives. • Assist in threat assessments, risk analysis, site surveys, and crisis management • Responds to incidents, ensuring appropriate action is taken by staff, appropriate parties were notified, and After Action Reports are completed. • Ability to safeguard confidential information and materials and understand the necessity to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the work environment. • Coordinate with Security Manager to establish goals, objectives, and then ensure these are properly communicated to staff. • Operate Fire Safety Command Station to make announcements and acknowledge alarms • Be able to operate an active and demanding switchboard when needed. • Greet and tend to all guests in a highly professional manner. • Display exceptional customer service and communication skills. • Greet and assist all messengers & delivery services. • Maintain safe and clean reception area. • Complying with all procedures, rules, and regulations set forth by Department head. • Ad hoc projects in support of the Operations department as necessary • Assist security staff on nights, weekends and 3rd party special events if needed. • Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks. • While primarily assigned to respond to the above responsibilities, it is expected that, should the need arise, the Security Specialist will respond to armed threats and any real or perceived threats of violence.
• Previous office or similar experience a plus. • Must be available to work a regular schedule, which may include daytime and/or nighttime shifts, plus overtime on an as-needed basis. • Associates Degree and three (3) or more years of related experience in Law Enforcement, Executive Protection, Military or Security preferred. • Employee must possess their own firearm (approved by Security management) and be able to secure their weapon offsite. • Professional demeanor with excellent verbal and written communication skills. • A pleasant and professional positive attitude. • Must be adept at interacting with all levels of an organization, from administrative to senior executive staff. • Strong organizational skills and highly attentive to detail. • Computer literacy in MS Office, Word and Email. • Ability to effectively multitask and prioritize. • Extremely flexible and reliable, energetic, and quick learner. • Ability to function in a stressful environment & respond in a calm, professional manner. • Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment. • Must maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities and continuing needs. • Must be available to work nights, weekends and 3rd party events if needed. • Must have and maintain an approved license to carry a concealed weapon in NYC. • Must possess a valid NYS Armed Guard Security License. • Must possess valid 8-hour annual Firearms Training Course certificate. • Must be willing to acquire a FDNY indoor place of assembly safety personnel certificate (Fire Guard License) and First Aid/CPR certifications. • As a condition of continued employment, the employee must maintain the current active status of all required License and must carry the license at all times while on duty. • Applicant must pass the pre-screening process including a background investigation.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL & MENTAL FUNCTIONS
• Read, understand and clearly speak English; constantly use speech and hearing (correctable to normal level required) in communicating with public/co-workers, giving and receiving instructions, using phones. • Stand or walk constantly during 3rd party event when needed. • Occasionally bend/twist at waist/knees/neck to perform various duties. • Constant use of both hands and arms in reaching/handling/grasping/fingering while using the phone, notepad, writing reports, and other administrative tasks. • Constant use of eyes (correctable vision to normal level required) to observe, read, interact with public and co-workers, view security monitors; includes hand/eye coordination. • Work in various environments including adverse outdoor conditions such as cold, rain or heat; • Constant mental alertness and attention to detail required while setting priorities and following up on assignments. • Must possess excellent customer service and communication skills. • Must be willing to follow the chain of command and established security procedures. • Must be able to frequently prepare written reports on the computer. • Must be able to handle the pressure of working with a high volume general public (ranging from constant to occasional, depending on assignment).
