The Public Sector Group was created to expand J.P. Morgan's business with the public sector client segment, which for more than a century has been a large and important client set for J.P Morgan.

The Public Sector Group is currently recruiting a Banker who will take responsibility for the coverage of public sector entities within the United States including Government-Sponsored Enterprises, select departments of the United States Government, and government-owned national entities.

The Banker will be part of the Global Corporate Bank's Public Sector Group and will report to the head of the group. The role will ideally be based in New York, though consideration will be given to candidates with a preference for Washington D.C.

Core Responsibilitieswill include:

  • Develop and sustainrelationships, including with senior decision-makers within client organizations andclient prospects.

  • Assumeprimary relationshipmanagement for a large number of public sector entities in theUnitedStates: U.S. Govt departments and agencies: government-sponsoredenterprises (GSEs); and selected government-owned commercial enterprises(Amtrak, TVA, etc.)

  • Work in partnership withInvestment Banking (Debt Capital Markets, Advisory), Investor Services(Custody and Fund Services, Securities Lending and related investorproducts), Transaction Services, Markets Sales (FX, Fixed Income, Futuresand Options, Securitized Products), Asset Management, and other lines ofbusiness to develop, market and execute client business.

  • Collaborate with J.P. coverage bankers andproduct experts on client business that may depend substantially on supportfrom U.S. Government departments and agencies.

  • Develop and execute the coveragestrategy for the public sector franchise in the United Sates; drive accountplanning processes, pipeline management, and revenue growth.

  • Serve as the clients’ chiefsponsor within J.P. Morgan to assure high levels of client service,appropriate lines of credit, and resolve documentation issues that couldarise.

  • Keep abreast of financial marketdevelopments of relevance to the client set.

  • Participate as a senior memberof the Public Sector Group, sharing financial challenges and transactionideas to resolve them, learning best financial practices of public sectorclients globally, and disseminating ideas to United States public sectorclients.

  • Organize training and otherrelated events; ensure client participation at the right level for otherJPM events, etc.

  • Ensure full compliance with all J.P Morganregulatory requirements, including Know Your Customer (KYC), as well asappropriate concern for an effective control environment and sensitivity toreputational risk.

Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to create,develop and maintain trusted client relationships, as evidenced by,winning new business, closing transactions and possessing valuableprofessional networks, ideally with this client set.

  • Knowledge of markets and/oreconomics; must be able to articulate JPMorgan views at a high level.

  • Experience working with or within public sectorclient organizations, ideally with United States public sector clients.

  • Effective business person, whocan develop viable strategies to grow the overall business with thisclient set, as well as take pragmatic steps to execute these strategies.

  • Understanding of key productsused by this client set, in particular custody and integrated reportingand financing products, transaction management / cash management services,trade, fixed income (credit and rates), derivatives, structured and securitized products,futures and options, debt capital markets, asset management.

  • Flexibility to travelfrequently.

  • Ability to navigate across largeorganizations to get things done and broker information across the firm;ability to form strong partnerships and work in environments where thereare multiple, over-lapping stakeholders.

  • Excellent (English) written andoral communication skills.
