Healthfirst Clerical Assistant-2 in New York, New York


Position Summary:

The Appeals and Grievances Clerical Assistant is responsible for receiving and distributing faxes and for creating events in Medical Management software system for all Appeals and Grievances Coordinators in all lines of business.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Scan and appropriately sort and distribute all Appeals and Grievances -specific mail, referrals, medical records and documents.

  • Create events in and refer to Appeals and Grievances Coordinators via Medical Management software system.

  • Manage mail correspondence for retrospective reviews, reconsiderations and re-openings.

  • Research claims and Diagnosis Related Group information in the claims system.

  • Enter all necessary information into the Medical Management software system for events being set up for Appeals and Grievances or documents received in the Appeals and Grievance department.

  • Additional duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Administrative or clerical work experience.

  • Bilingual: English and Spanish.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • Administrative work experience in a managed care, home health, claims, doctor's office, or hospital environment.

  • Work experience scanning documents, electronic faxing, and using Microsoft Excel spreadsheets to track work.

  • Excellent telephone and customer service skills.

  • Ability to multi-task between scanning documents, answering phone calls, and setting events up for the Appeals and Grievance Coordinators.

  • Attention to detail when setting up events. Properly following procedures based on issues and documents received
