S&P Global Director, Business Transformation in New York, New York

The Team

The Business Transformation (BT) team is a small but focused team of experts responsible for building foundational execution and digital operating capabilities across the global Ratings organization. This new team operates globally and brings together a collection of business and technical skills with a mandate to pioneer new ways of working, thinking and operating. This is done through coaching, technical expertise, strategic thinking, Lean process optimization, problem solving and hands-on execution. The team works across Ratings on a demand-driven basis to address specific opportunities and challenges.

The Impact

The business impact of the role is centered on building strong execution capabilities using Lean and Agile-based approaches with a particular focus on the non-technology project space. This team collaborates with different, cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement and combine senior expertise with practical, hands-on support for projects and operational activities. The overall objective of the BT team is to effectively combine digital technologies and operating capabilities through Lean - Agile tools, processes and mindsets to build stronger execution capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Providing technical expertise, hands-on support for specific projects, problem solving exercises, workshops and other activities where Lean or Agile play a role

  • Leading certain value-stream aligned initiatives focused on operational and process improvement, with accountability for business value generation

  • Administering the Lean Academy program and the Lean certification program

  • Manage relationships with senior stakeholders across the organization

  • Execution of priorities supporting the organizations long-term strategy for Lean and Agile including building a strong partnership with the IT organization and other SPGI teams

  • Supervision and oversight of the activities of more junior members of the Lean and Business Transformation team as appropriate

  • Support the Business Transformation team with operationalizing a robust and consistent measurement and KPI approach that drives action and transparency of performance against objectives

  • Partnering with Business Management and Automation team to support specific Tier 3 initiatives and provide consulting support to problem solving activities and workshops.

What we re looking for

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10-12 Years in Industry:*

    Financial Services or related with experience and qualifications in Lean and Agile preferred

    • Experience with complex initiatives, transformation and organizational change management are highly valued

    • Exposure to different parts of the organization in a variety of roles preferable

PreferredQualifications - Experience:

  • Practical experience in Lean Management - Agile in a non-technology environment is essential, along with practical experience in designing, executing and coaching Lean deployments and Lean projects

    • Expertise and experience in Agile roles, processes and philosophy is also highly desirable. This is critical to role in developing partnerships, modeling behaviors and developing team capabilities.

    • The role requires a sound understanding of S&P Global Ratings business, ideally with experience working across multiple functions. As a cross-practice role, the specialists will need to be up-to-speed on developments, operations and issues across multiple and diverse business areas.

    • A strong customer focus is required which requires understand of who our customers are and how they use our products.

  • Formal qualifications in Lean (Black Belt Level) and - or Agile are welcomed, but not mandatory with appropriate levels of hands-on experience

    • Ability to work independently, think strategically and proven diagnostic ability are critical
