S&P Global Global Mobility Specialist in New York, New York

Title: Global Mobility Specialist

Grade: 11 (For internal)

The role:

The centralized Global Mobility function supports assignments (long- and short-term) and transfers for S&P Global. The primary responsibility of this role is to align mobility strategies to business plans and talent management. This position will support managing and deploying assignees and continually improve the assignment experience.

Primary Responsibilities:

Extensive experience on US immigration laws . Expert knowledge and firsthand experience of North American cross border employment law and work visa requirements . Ability to handle all US immigration, Visa and work authorization as and when they occur.

Manage immigration lifecycle for all US new hires and foreign national employees to obtain work visas, work permits and permanent residencies

Acts as the main resource for employees on all aspects of immigration, including visa processes and regulatory requirements/ changes

Monitor progress for all US immigration cases, identify long-term visa issues and communicate risk to recruiters/hiring managers/people partners

Manage day-to-day interactions with our mobility vendors to ensure a smooth experience for our people - including initiating and monitoring employee cases and vendor performance

Contribute thought leadership for domestic and international mobility programs - such as best practice reviews, trends, benchmarking, gap assessments and policy change recommendations

Assist with international assignment, permanent transfer, extended business trips and new hire management.

Counsel People Partners as well as Business Leaders on selection of the appropriate Global Mobility policy.

Provide expertise on Global Mobility policies and program to People Partners.

Continually improve the assignee experience.

Design and maintain process documentation for the global mobility programs.

Oversee the assignment life cycle for assignees as well as partnering with the Global Mobility Lead to manage high touch, “VIP’ services to all of the senior level assignees during all phases of their assignment.

Partner with the Global Mobility Lead on global team initiatives, global projects, development of processes, procedures and job tools; work to ensure consistency with global processes and procedures.

Develop and maintain strong business relationships.

Design and prepare management reports to support the administration of the mobility program.

Qualifications:

5+ years of experience in US Immigration, preferably within a multinational organization.

Experience in managing and administering expatriate policies and programs is essential for this role.

You will need to demonstrate understanding of the end-to-end relocation and transition process for international assignees.

You will need knowledge of international cost of living allowances and best practices.

Knowledge of compensation including calculation and explanation of standard assignment allowances /deductions, tax equalization, hypothetical tax and split-payroll mechanisms.

Knowledge of expatriate tax issues including social security taxes, totalization agreements and tax planning for short term assignments.

Customer service skills are an essential part of the job. You must be able to react to clients’ questions with patience, discretion, and understanding.

Having a solid work ethic and self-starter attitude is essential for this role

Ability to service demanding clientele in a fast-paced environment and on a global scale.

Detail oriented with exceptional organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload.

Excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills – strong customer service skills a must.

Experience working with external service providers to deliver projects and services.

A solid understanding of Microsoft Office and experience with utilizing technology systems that maintain demographic and financial payroll compensation data is essential for this role.

A degree from a leading university in a related field, or equivalent work experience.

Cross cultural sensitivity required.

Ability to work effectively in a multi-national, global team environment.
