The Role

Wells Fargo Merchant Services (WFMS) is a leader in the electronic payment services industry providing a full range of credit and debit card payment acceptance solutions for merchants of all sizes. Wells Fargo is ranked as the 5th largest U.S. Acquirer and processes over $488 billion in payment volume with 7.4 billion transactions. There are 750 team members in WFMS located across the United States.

This executive role will be instrumental in Wells Fargo’s Merchant Services (WFMS) continued transformation and our commitment to help customers succeed nancially by delivering on our vision and brand promise.

The Head of Wells Fargo Merchant Services provides the strategic direction, financial management and leadership for all aspects of the of the Merchant Services business. Key responsibilities include oversight of business development for all sales segments including Wholesale and Community Banking sales segments, management of product, credit, service, risk, and operations functions as well as oversight for the joint venture.

Specifically this leader will:

  • Lead change within the business to transform WFMS into the payments company of the future.

  • Lead the development, planning and execution of business initiatives that drive business growth and results within a complex and highly competitive industry.

  • Lead the overall strategy for the Merchant payments business and work closely with the strategic partners that support other business segments as we look toward our business model for the future; including Consumer Lending, Community Bank and Wholesale segment partners and other strategy partners across the broader organization.

  • Lead business functions by establishing operational controls and standards, monitoring on-going operations and adjusting priorities to meet changing market, competitive and regulatory conditions while monitoring and administering appropriate financial controls.

  • Provide oversight for the joint venture, including the operations, customer service and ongoing support resources of the business.

  • Provide inspirational leadership and direction to all team members as well as hire, develop, and retain a diverse and exceptional workforce.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will have demonstrated success in building and leading high performing, industry-leading customer focused teams in the payments services industry. This executive will have experience leading a best in class organization leveraging highly disciplined business, financial, operations, credit and risk management processes and demonstrated experience and success driving growth through new business development. This also includes experience leading and/or providing direction to vendor partners in delivering operations support across the customer base.

Required Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of management experience

  • 15+ years of strategic planning experience

  • 15+ years of business development experience
