M&T Bank Insurance Brokerage & Placement Specialist III in New York, New York



Provides insurance brokerage and placement services utilizing the technical knowledge to meet the insurance needs of large and highly complex segment of clients. May supervise less experienced personnel.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership and participate in new business development

  • Assess customer needs and negotiate high risk activity with carriers to obtain favorable coverages and rates that meet customer needs

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of the insurance marketplace. Establish and maintain strong, productive relationships with insurance company underwriters and brokers to obtain most competitive pricing, terms and conditions for large and highly complex clients.

  • Review and analyze insurance programs (coverage, limits, deductibles, retentions, classifications, etc.) for new and renewal business submissions; recommend improvements to strengthen insurance coverage.

  • Analyze, evaluate and review insurable exposures, loss information, experience modification data and insurance industry trends, as applicable.

  • Prepare new business and renewal proposals and other presentation documents to assist sales efforts of agency producers

  • Collaborate with agency producers and service team to ensure marketing expectations are being met, agency procedures are followed and marketing activities are adequately documented in agency management system.

  • Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.

  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.

  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 8 years' Property & Casualty underwriting, account management and/or brokerage and placement experience,

OR in lieu of a degree,

A combined minimum of 12 years' higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 8 years' Property & Casualty underwriting, account management and/or brokerage and placement experience

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Education and Experience Preferred:

Ability to obtain state Brokers License

Minimum of 8 years' Property & Casualty experience

Experience working in pertinent agency management system
