Services for the UnderServed, Inc (SUS) Outreach Specialist in New York, New York

Conduct outreach for homeless prevention participants.


  • Conduct program outreach and community related activities to increase referral base and community visibility.

  • Provide outside presentations to network and further develop referral sources.

  • Promote linkages with other service providers that will help participants obtain and maintain housing stability.

  • Participate in various consortium meetings.

  • Maintain logs of outreach activities.

  • Complete monthly reports as required.

  • Cultivate, develop and maintain productive relationships with referral agencies.

  • Attend interdisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, various meetings and outside events as assigned by supervisor.

  • Obtain new housing resources for Homebase clients within appropriate time frame set by supervisor.

  • Update resource book for staff.


  • Tasks may be modified, expanded and/or assigned over time.

  • Perform other related duties as required by management.

  • High School diploma or GED.

  • At least two years working experience in the human services field or related area.


  • Working knowledge of homelessness and the complex interaction of multiple factors leading to homelessness.

  • Solid knowledge of community resources and services

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, good presentation skills

  • Good interpersonal skill set, able to work independently and still function as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

  • Knowledge of screening and interview techniques and business etiquette.

  • Bilingual a plus


  • Solid computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft
