Receives, analyzes and prepares semen for intrauterine insemination. Performs comprehensive semen analysis, antibody testing, fructose testing, and viability assays. Prepares reports for physicians. Prepares media for various assays. Freezes semen. Prepares frozen/thawed semen.
Follows ID procedure for semen analysis (SA) and intrauterine inseminations (IUI).
Ensures labeling of vials and tubes with patient's identifying information.
Ensures specimens are handled in a timely fashion.
Performs comprehensive semen analysis, including sperm count, motility, progression, morphology, and viability (if indicated).
Performs fructose test.
Performs direct and indirect Antibody testing.
Prepares semen for intrauterine insemination or IVF.
Prepares reports of laboratory results for physicians in accordance with procedures.
Freezes surgically retrieved specimen (TESE/MESA).
Freezes and stores semen for IUI and IVF use.
Processes cryopreserved donor and patient specimens.
Maintains liquid nitrogen tanks.
Performs all Quality Control procedures.
Prepares media for various assays.
Maintains patient records.
Performs related duties, as required.
Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Physical or Biological Sciences, or related field, required.
Licensed by New York State Education Department (NYSED) as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist (or as appropriate to area of assignment), required.
Minimum of one (1) year pertinent laboratory experience and/or training.
