Advertised Summary Job Description

The Manley Lab is looking to hire a Senior Research Staff assistant for a collaborative project with the Mukherjee lab. The project requires assistance with small molecule drug screenings for compounds that specifically kill myelodysplastic syndrome and other cancer cells. The main duties of the successful candidate will be maintaining and expanding engineered cell lines carrying disease-causing mutations, working with the Columbia Genome Center High Throughput Screening Facility located in the medical campus in screening compound libraries, and helping senior scientists with setting-up and running molecular and biochemical-based experiments to determine and characterize drug target(s). The experiments include luminescent-based proliferation assay, plasmid purification, viral production, cell transfections, running SDS-PAGE gels, immunoblotting, RNA isolation, performing PCR and RT-qPCR, drug conjugation and immunoprecipitation.

This position requires minimally a Bachelor's degree in biological sciences or a related field. Prior relevant lab experience beyond the Bachelor's degree is necessary.
