Description

Core responsibility is driving strategy to grow the business whilst promoting clear governance and controls. Engagement with the Global Businesses is key to ensure a coordinated approach and alignment to Group objectives. The role will also represent Sales Intelligence and Analytics with Functions and Global Businesses as deemed appropriate.

Engage Sales Force

  • Work with Relationship Managers, Segment and Product Heads, Senior Management, and other key stakeholders to understand their data processes, pain points and needs around analytical insights

  • Communicate results of analyses and insights highlighted by analytical tools and educate key stakeholders on tool applications

  • Implement a feedback loop through aggregating RM responses, attending client meetings, and leveraging/enhancing CRM and SFI tools and analytics

Implement Quantitative Analytics

  • Develop, execute and measure data-driven, revenue-generating ideas

  • Work with and manage team to clean and validate data relevant to analyses

  • Work with and manage team to build models, automated analytics and other SFI tools, such as dashboards, and conduct ongoing enhancements of each

  • Aide in build out and ongoing enhancements of long-term data infrastructure that can be leveraged for analytical insights and prediction-based models

  • Assess revenue impact of implemented analyses and tools

  • Liaise with and create a knowledge-sharing culture amongst other Data Analytics teams in the US, Group and Group Affiliates

Manage and Lead

  • Collaborate with other SFI managers to improve management information reporting, quantitative analytics and SFI tools

  • Manage the project pipeline and execution; manage corresponding funding and budget

Impact on the Business

  • This role will support the Sales Intelligence and Analytics Executive. Key activities are:

  • Lead contribution to relevant investment frameworks, finalize the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and manage inputs to strategic reviews

  • Propose, coordinate and lead inputs to key strategic initiatives for SI&A and various business transformation activities, including the development of related business cases

  • Coordinate performance management and monitor the implementation and effectiveness of strategic initiatives to deliver long term objectives of revenue generation and cost saving in alignment with Global Businesses, HSBC Operations, Services & Technology (HOST), and Global Functions

  • Coordinate papers/presentations requested by leadership, Global Businesses or Functions and regional/ country stakeholders

  • Manage the governance committees and coordinate with other HSBC governance forums as required

  • Coordinate the strategy, execution, management and reporting of all SI&A segments including rollout / maintenance of standard tools, targets, performance tracking, operating models, sales processes, people agenda and governance

Customers / Stakeholders

  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with Management Teams, all CMB, Global Businesses and Group functions

  • Understand current economic trends and its impact on HSBC and CMB and identify key levers to capitalize on opportunities or minimize downside exposure

  • Establish metrics to ensure effective tracking of competitor offerings and performance in comparison to HSBC

  • Negotiation and consensus building with various regional and global stakeholders to ensure delivery of strategic imperatives

  • Ensure that the Business Management function is responsive to the requirements and expectations of the global and local Businesses

  • Represent CMB at governance committees and forums and act as a CMB champion to ensure that key objectives are prioritized appropriately within CMB & GBM

  • Deliver fair outcomes for our customers and ensure own conduct maintains the orderly and transparent operation of financial markets

  • Contribute to the development, implementation and maintenance of CMB management information, analysis and reporting framework that supports and informs timely and effective business management and decision making at all levels

  • Contribute to the implementation and monitoring of the application of CMB policies, governance frameworks, procedures, practices and standards to ensure quality, effective risk management and regulatory compliance

Major Challenges

  • Management of multiple stakeholders and competing priorities as individual will work on many projects at once

  • Understanding large quantities of data that are disjoined within multiple systems.

  • The jobholder is responsible for managing and mitigating operational risks in their day to day operations. In executing these responsibilities, the Group has adopted risk management and internal control structure referred to as the ‘Three Lines of Defense’. The jobholder should ensure they understand their position within the Three Lines of Defense, and act accordingly in line with operational risk policy, escalating in a timely manner where they are unsure of actions required.

  • Through the implementation the Global AML, Sanctions and ABC Policies, supporting Guidance, and Line of Business Procedures the jobholder will make informed decisions in accordance with the core principles of HSBC's Financial Crime Risk Appetite.

  • The jobholder has responsibility for overseeing and ensuring that Operational risks are managed in accordance with the Group Standards Manual, Risk FIM, & relevant guidelines & standards. The jobholder should comply with the detailed expectations and responsibilities for their core role in operational risk management through ensuring all actions take account of operational risks, and through using the Operational Risk Management Framework appropriately to manage those risks.

This will be achieved by:

  • Continuously reassessing risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings, and the impact of new technology.

  • Ensuring all actions take account of the likelihood of operational risk occurring, addressing areas of concern in conjunction with Risk and relevant line colleagues, and also by ensuring that actions resulting from points raised by internal or external audits, and external regulators, are correctly implemented in a timely fashion.

Observation of Internal Controls

  • The jobholder will adhere to, and be able to demonstrate adherence to, internal controls and will implement the Group compliance policy by adhering to all relevant processes/procedures.

This will be achieved by liaising with Compliance department about business initiatives at the earliest opportunity. Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the commercial banking business and broader construct of HSBC’s Global Businesses

  • Must have Advanced Excel and Power Point skills

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize a range of requests / actions to best support the CMB teams and products

  • Ability to prepare business cases, business plans

  • Exceptional excel stills

  • Deliver quality reports, presentations under strict deadlines

  • Highly numeracy and business presentation skills

  • Ability to work within a small team structure and on solo tasks

  • Display a high level of objectivity and ability to challenge senior management on various aspects of their business

  • Understanding of international subsidiary banking

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant commercial banking experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required
