Major Responsibilities:

Overall Purpose: This position serves as a Compliance Officer - Business Oversight supporting the Transaction Banking Office of the Americas (TBOA) and its businesses, as well as other organizational areas that may be assigned, to ensure that an effective compliance program is developed and maintained to address compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, key compliance issues and processes are evaluated and controlled, and appropriate actions are taken to mitigate compliance risk. This position shall serve as a Subject Matter Expert and/or Primary Regulatory Lead for designated laws, regulations and policies.

  • Serve as a Compliance Officer – Business Oversight supporting the Transaction Banking Office of the Americas, as well as other organizational areas that may be assigned.

  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert and/or Primary Regulatory Lead for designated laws, regulations and policies.

  • Implement and support actions to communicate and implement organizational and group objectives; and provide support for goals and initiatives in support of the Annual Plan. Monitor progress and report on the status of completion of compliance initiatives.

  • Support the development of compliance-related monitoring and compliance metrics; perform and/or manage accordingly. Provide information for initiatives tracking and compliance reporting to management and governance groups.

  • Support the creation and performance of create compliance-related reporting encompassing all compliance initiatives i.e. issues management, policy and procedure updates, monitoring results, and projects addressing compliance issues or risks.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including businesses and other risk functions, to ensure implementation of an effective compliance program. Utilizing the knowledge of the business activities and products of the businesses supported, provide consulting and advisory services to business units to comply with applicable laws, regulations, and policies.

  • In tandem with the Head of Transaction Banking Compliance, work with key stakeholders to implement compliance programs designed to comply with applicable laws and regulations.

  • Draft, or participate in the drafting of, compliance related manuals and procedures. Make recommendations to develop or enhance business unit manuals and procedures as they relate to Transaction Banking compliance; and respond to compliance-related questions from management and staff.

  • Act as a liaison and assist the business units to address compliance issues raised by regulators, Internal Audit, and Compliance Testing. Support business units to develop controls and procedures to mitigate compliance-related risks.

  • Execute, participate in and/or manage the execution of assigned responsibilities under the bank’s compliance risk assessment programs.

  • Perform, participate in and/or support the performance of assigned responsibilities under monitoring programs to implement or satisfy Home Office and Japan Financial Services Agency (“JFSA”) requirements. This includes, but is not limited to, performing and/or managing the performance of requirements to conduct monitoring or to provide supervisory oversight regarding compliance with key JFSA requirements and Home Office guidance.

  • Perform reviews of marketing materials concerning business lines supported, as assigned.

  • Work with Compliance Training on the development, coordination, and delivery of initial and ongoing compliance-related training, as assigned. Provide and/or support the delivery of new hire training, including preparing related materials and recordkeeping.

  • Support KYC and OFAC teams in the performance of their responsibilities, as needed, for matters that require escalation. Respond to business line questions or act as a liaison between the businesses and the KYC and OFAC teams as requested on matters of significance or complexity. Assist the business unit to collect, review, and inform the Financial Crimes and/or Fraud Department of potential or suspicious activity.

  • Assist and review new or enhanced products or services proposed by TBOA through the product and service risk assessments (“PSRAs”). Provide written analysis, comments or advice concerning compliance-related risks or issues presented by the PSRAs. Work and consult with the business line to address compliance risks presented by these proposals.

  • Perform and/or manage performance of responsibilities and projects as assigned by supervisor and/or Americas Compliance senior management, including those required by Home Office

  • Minimum of 7 – 10 years of compliance and/or risk management experience with a focus on U.S. banking law and regulations

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. banking regulations

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, well organized with strong attention to detail and strong analytical and written communication skills

  • Education: BS/BA Required; Advanced Degree Preferred (e.g., JD, MBA)
