ROLE SUMMARY

The primary responsibilities of this position are to develop stable, robust, and scalable vaccine adjuvant formulations by employing liposome, nanoparticle, or other novel technology to achieve desired product attributes and to prepare early research formulations to support novel adjuvant screening.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

The individual should stay current with the scientific literature of liposome, nanoparticle, and other novel delivery system.

Design and execute formulation studies to support formulation/process development for new adjuvant candidates which may consist of liposomal, nanoparticle or other novel systems.

Troubleshoot formulation and process challenges independently and provide solutions to meet the timeline.

Define suitable and scalable manufacturing process for adjuvant formulations and provide dose formulation instructions for both early animal studies and formal GLP safety studies.

Characterize adjuvant and vaccine formulations to measure osmolality, water content (Karl Fischer), particle size (DLS), and zeta potential.

Document experiments, analyze data, provide interpretation and conclusions obtained from formulation development experiments contemporaneously in an electronic notebook.

The individual should be able to communicate the findings both verbally and in appropriate documents in a clear and concise manner.

Represent the Formulation Development group on cross -departmental program teams.

QUALIFICATIONS

PhD with 0-4 years’ experience or Master with 4-8 years’ experience in Pharmaceutics, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Life Sciences, or related field.

Hands-on experience in formulating liposomal and nanoparticle delivery system (e.g. micelles, liposomes, polymers, emulsions) is essential.

Direct experience in vaccine adjuvant formulation development is a plus.

Experience in pharmaceutical development and sterile drug product manufacturing is preferred.

Experience in using biophysical formulation characterization techniques such as DSC, DLS, KF, and other particle sizing techniques.

Must have good technical, organizational, and communication skills.

The individual should be able to perform the duties of the job which may include pipetting, sitting, and standing.

The individual should be able to perform mathematical calculations and ability to perform data analysis.

Occasional travel might be needed based on business needs.
