The College is seeking an Admissions Coordinator for Transfer Students. Reporting to the Manager for Transfer Services, the Admissions Coordinator for Transfer Students will review past credits earned by transfer students and update records in CUNYfirst accordingly. The Admissions Coordinator for Transfer Students will work with queries in CUNYfirst and build transfer rules which serve as the foundation for credit evaluations. Some evening and/or weekend hours may be required.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Review student records from other institutions to determine applicability of transfer course work
Maintain transfer and course equivalency rules
Demonstrate and maintain knowledge of QCC/CUNY programs and degree requirements
Assist with the reviewing of transfer applications, update data in CUNYfirst and assist in the maintenance of transfer files
Evaluate online transfer applications, examine transcripts for exemptions for CUNY Placement test
Work closely with Manager of Transfer Services on developing timelines and goals, and serve as liaison to the Office of the Registrar
Serve as the administrative contact person for prospective transfer students
Bachelor's Degree required.
The successful candidate can work independently and in a team environment.
Possess a strong awareness of higher education, student services and best practices
Experience evaluating academic transcripts for purpose of awarding transfer credit
Working knowledge and experience with student information systems, experience with PeopleSoft preferred.
Experience working in a Community College in a student services area, such as Admissions, Advising, or Registrar
Strong communication and customer service skills and experience working with multiple constituencies including academic departments.
CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW
Coordinates efforts of admissions and/or enrollment offices.
Coordinates workshops, intake screenings, interviews and orientations for new students
Counsels prospective applicants on requirements and standards and provides general information on programs and services in person or by telephone, e-mail or letter; conducts follow up as needed
Assists in conducting open house sessions and orientations, including group sessions and programs at high schools and in the community at large
Assists with day-to-day administration and an admissions or enrollment office, including scheduling and preparing and distributing materials
Represents the Admission Office to the college's internal and external communities as directed
Maintains and updates program databases, lists and files to ensure completeness and accuracy
Performs related duties as assigned.
