Transcat, Inc. Chief Financial Officer in Rochester, New York

Transcat, Inc. is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to direct and oversee the financial and administrative functions of the organization and serve as a key member of the executive leadership team. Roles and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Strategy, Planning, and Management

  • As the CFO, serve as a strategic business partner to the executive leadership team.

  • Assess, evaluate, and analyze financial performance of the organization regarding long-term operational goals, budgets, and forecasts.

  • Identify and secure capital and/or debt funding required to establish and grow the organization.

  • Communicate, engage, and partner with CEO and Executive Leadership Team.

  • Create and establish yearly financial objectives that align with the company’s strategic goals.

  • Participate in pivotal decisions as they relate to strategic initiatives and operational models.

  • Participate in acquisitions and identify potential risks during due diligence phase.

Financial Analysis, Budgeting, and Forecasting

  • Prepare and present monthly financial budgeting reports including monthly profit and loss, forecast vs. budget, etc.

  • Review and analyze monthly financial results and provide recommendations.

  • Identify, develop, and execute analysis of business initiatives and/or new service offerings.

  • Develop and maintain annual company operating budget.

SEC Compliance

  • Prepare required SEC filings in accordance with regulations and ensure compliance in all SEC related matters.

  • Prepare and develop Proxy materials.

  • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley requirements as it relates to FP&A responsibilities

Accounting, General Ledger, Administration, and Operations

  • Ensure the proper use and functioning of all systems, databases, and financial software.

  • Review and ensure application of appropriate internal controls, compliance, and financial procedures.

  • Oversee the preparation and timely filing of all local, state, and federal tax returns.

  • Oversee the month-end close process, review procedures, and eliminate inefficiencies.

  • Oversee preparation and communication of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

  • Review all month-end closing activities including general ledger accounts, balance sheet accounts, and overhead cost allocation.

  • Enhance and implement financial and accounting systems, processes, tools, and control systems

Financial Management

  • Manage cash flow planning process and ensure funds availability.

  • Explore new investment opportunities and provide recommendations on potential returns and risks.

  • Maintain outstanding banking relationships and strategic alliances with vendors and business partners.

  • Utilize forward-looking models and activity-based analyses to provide financial insight into the organization’s plans and operating budgets.

Financial Relations and Policies

  • Engage leadership team to develop short-term and long-term plans, projections, and budgets.

  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and processes.

  • Remain current on audit best practices as well as state, federal, and local laws regarding company operations.

Financial and Administrative Team Management

  • Mentor, teach, and develop internal infrastructure teams including Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, and Facilities and build an effective and efficient team dynamic.

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in accounting and financial management required, including experience with a publicly held company

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required. MBA preferred

  • Exceptional analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills

  • Demonstrated leadership ability, confidence, and executive presence

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
