Position for a CNC Engineer / Programmer in Rochester, NY:

Job duties:

  • Provide all necessary CNC programs, fixturing and machining process parameters to produce parts to customer specifications, and all quality and workmanship standards set forth by the Quality Plans.

  • Provide engineering support to manufacturing so that they can successfully complete projects including meeting the budgeted cost, schedule, and quality targets.

  • Develop programs for both vertical & horizontal CNC milling machines. Maintain program files, set up documentation & may run projects on machines. Assists others in writing or editing programs.

  • Responsible for or assists in the design & build of specialized work holding fixtures.

  • Determines machining processes, tooling and fixture requirements as well as setup procedures.

  • Create or update setup documentation including tool list, pick up points, fixture sketch and part loading sequence.

  • Collaborates with Quality Assurance to develop in-process inspection requirements for first run jobs.

  • Manage the launch of new projects into manufacturing. Provide all necessary programs, tooling, fixtures, etc. needed to secure an approved 1st piece part and then transition the job to manufacturing. Detects and corrects any non-conforming issues. Visually and physically inspect parts to quality plan. Communicate during the hand-off, part loading, machining process and expectations, quality plan requirements, use of inspection gages, de-burring and packaging requirements.

  • Monitor repeat run jobs and provide manufacturing with support as required. Communicate non-conforming issues with manufacturing personnel, Manufacturing Manager and Quality Manager.

  • Conduct job improvement exercises that will positively benefit cost, delivery, and quality deliverables.

Skills, Experience, Education:

  • Solid Works Understanding Experience (is a plus)

  • Tool and Fixture Design using MCam or SolidWorks

  • Horizontal and Vertical Milling Machine Set-Up and Programming experience (5th Axis is a plus)

  • Proficient understanding of G&M Codes (Macro programming is a plus)

  • GD&T understanding and solid blueprint reading skills

  • Mastercam 2018-2020

  • Cutting Tool Technology understanding
