ESL Federal Credit Union Mortgage Closing Specialist in Rochester, New York

Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Must be flexible to meet current and future business needs.

Primary Accountability:

This position is accountable for ensuring accurate preparation and completion of Residential Loan Closings for an individual pipeline in accordance with loan parameters, investor guidelines, secondary market guidelines, regulatory requirements, and internal process. Will work with attorneys to schedule closings and clear title conditions, prepare and review closing documentation on all residential loan originations and process CEMA requests. Direct responsibility for pre and post-closing requirements. Contributes towards team sales and service goals.

Principal Accountability:

Manage individual pipeline to ensure loan files close within service level agreements

  • Perform accurate and complete closing and funding of loans by reviewing files received from Underwriting for proper completion and accuracy and ensuring data integrity within the loan origination system

  • Liaise and maintain an open line of communication with various departments including Loan Originations, Processing and Underwriting, Loan Servicing, POS, Quality Assurance and Home Equity. Proactively communicates with internal customers and staff to resolve loan level issues.

  • Independently manages individual pipeline to meet service level agreements and funding deadlines

  • Obtain required documentation from all sources to satisfy conditions for closing that were part of the approval process

  • Co-ordinate daily closings to include scheduling closings, preparation of documents, monitor and review closing packages to ensure compliance with internal and regulatory guidelines and prepare the funding for all loans

  • Participate in special projects as assigned by the Mortgage Closing Manager

Ensure closings and documentation complies with ESL, NCUA, secondary market, Federal, State and local regulations and meet commitment letter requirements.

  • Prepare closing packages and review closing documents for completeness, required compliance with regulatory and underwriting guidelines for all the Credit Union’s residential loan programs to ensure proper standards are met in connection with both internal standards and regulatory guidelines

  • Conduct regulatory compliance audits

  • Preparation of documentation in accordance to loan parameters and regulatory guidelines

  • Audits files for completeness and accuracy

  • Ensures all documents needed for the investor are included in the closing file

  • Work as a liaison between Loan Servicing, customers, attorneys and title companies to resolve post-closing issues

Conduct real estate settlement

  • Present and explain both standard secondary forms and organization’s mortgage documents to the customers and their attorneys

  • Collection of all compliance documentation including IRS filing documentation

  • Witnessing of appropriate signatures

  • Collection and approval of all necessary documentation for satisfaction of at closing conditions and curatives both underwriting and title

  • Maintain final interaction with customer in accordance to customer experience standards

Performs additional tasks that support the business and provide on-going self-development

  • Share in rotational basis of departmental clerical needs

  • Flexible and adaptable to contribute to overall department and mortgage process

  • Provide preparation and closing support to overall pipeline

  • Ledger Balancing

  • Support I-Visits

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent directly related experience in mortgage, closings, paralegal or real estate

  • High School diploma or High School equivalency diploma required

  • Minimum two years experience in real estate paralegal, banking to include performing home equity closings or other real estate related experience is required

  • Licensed Notary Public required

  • Strong negotiation skills

  • Strong work ethic and ability to self start

  • Solid math and calculation skills

  • Knowledge of title searches to determine ownership and lien status of properties. Prior experience in title commitment and survey reviews

  • Prepare mortgage loan closing documents and legal descriptions for deeds

  • Detail oriented and organized with excellent communication with phone and customer service skills

  • Ability to multi task and prioritize assignments while delivering consistent quality work product

  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision making skills. Ability to work with little supervision and seek help when needed

  • Proficient in PC usage: speed and accuracy are required

  • Working knowledge of mortgage products and underwriting

  • Must complete submission of application to the NMLS within the first week of employment and subsequently be successfully registered as a Mortgage Loan Originator through ESL
