Working closely with the Program Manager, the Operations Project Managerrole is critical to ensure timely and efficient execution of government programs. The Operations Project Manager is responsible for building the competitive advantage of the company by ensuring the development and management of a range of suppliers according to our criteria of excellence in cost, quality, delivery, service and innovation.
Key success factors for this position are:
Ability to lead New Product Introduction with our manufacturing partners
Frequent travel to suppliers during project launches to ensure delivery is executed as promised and assist in the supplier selection process
Effective two-way communication and support during the project mobilization, ramp up and program execution phases
Development of new products by deploying design to cost approach and Value Analysis both internally and with suppliers
Accountability of key performance metrics including Cost to Value (costs savings & quality) and On-Time Delivery
As a key member of a program team, lead supply chain and sourcing activities required for new product introduction at selected suppliers/Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) providers
Manage production ramp up at manufacturing partners in accordance with program requirements
Travel required (50% dependent upon the stage of the program) to manufacturing partner sites, program Tier 2 suppliers, including small businesses.
Act as the primary commercial contact for projects with suppliers
Work with R&D Project Managers and Suppliers/EMSs to build the sourcing plan and establish material planning to meet delivery and cost targets for a program, project or product.
Work with Global Sourcing and Quality teams on new supplier selection in support of a project/product launch
Prepare and submits RFIs/RFQs in support of project and share with stakeholders and Global Sourcing Commodity Manager
Prepare and negotiate sourcing agreements and share with Global Sourcing Director and Contract Manager
Manage the purchasing of materials and services required for the project or product.
Prepare rolling forecasts for key suppliers and actively manage project inventory and delivery schedules
Work closely with the Global Quality team on audits and key quality topics and Product & Process Quality Assurance (PPQA) process, this includes the supplier selection process
In conjunction with the Global Quality team, assist in audits, supplier scorecard maintenance and root cause analysis/corrective action implementation, as required. This includes the Product & Process Quality Assurance (PPQA) process.
Provide weekly status reports to management
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor Degree in business, supply chain management, mechanical or electrical engineering preferred.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a progressive supply chain role working in a fast-paced cooperative environment.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES
• Government program execution in a volume manufacturing context
• Subcontractor management
• Strong organizational skills
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and orally
• Familiar with quality management systems (ISO 9001, AS9100)
• Microsoft suite and ERP systems expertise
• Familiar with product industrialization processes
• Approximately 50% travel required dependent upon the stage of the program
