SUMMARY:

Provides accurate & complete registration including outpatients, inpatient admissions, transfers, and other clerical support to the Patient Access Department. Completes process by verifying insurances and collecting applicable co-payments and recording in appropriate data entry journals.

STATUS: Full Time (40 Hours)

LOCATION: Pediatrics - Batavia

DEPARTMENT: Pediatrics

SCHEDULE: Day/Evening

ATTRIBUTES:

Associates degree in business or healthcare related field preferred.

Medical Terminology preferred.

Previous experience in medical insurance billing and registration preferred.

RESPOSIBILITES:

Conducts accurate patient registration interviews, verifies current demographic, insurance, physician information and enters required data into computer system in accordance with financial and departmental guidelines.

Obtains all necessary signatures on consent forms and financial agreements and completes Medicare secondary forms if required.

Collects co-payments, when applicable (cash, check, credit card). Accurately records co-payments, completes financial ledger, and completes all collection logs. Makes all referrals to appropriate areas ? Medicaid etc. so that all financial forms can be completed.

Has an understanding of all on-line insurance verification, ie: Easylink, Excellus BC/BS, EEM. Documents appropriate eligibility and co-payment information in ERM.

Obtains referrals/precerts as required by Payer. Records on accounts and sends to Payer as required.

Maintains 90% registration accuracy rate as outlined in department policy.

Discusses payment issues, need for payment assistance at time ofregistration/admissionwith patients so that they have an understanding of their financial obligation and options available to them.

Respects the confidentiality of patients, department, and hospital information per HIPAA guidelines.

Demonstrates proficiency in current downtime procedures per department policy

Maintains high customer service expectations in behavior and communication at all times and conveys these expectations with others consistently.
