Northrop Grumman Software Engineer / Principal Software Engineer in Rome, New York

But most of all, its work that makes a difference. We're seeking a Software Engineer who enjoys overcoming technical challenges to join our multidisciplinary engineering team in Rome, NY.

As a software engineer, you will specify, design, develop, document, test, integrate and conduct problem resolution for scientific software. You will work with cutting edge technologies relative to the development and integration of intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) collection, processing, exploitation, analysis and dissemination capabilities.

You'll provide full life cycle support to applications software utilizing agile development methodologies for systems that collect, process and exploit intelligence data handling sources to include: imagery, video, signals intelligence, and cyber intelligence data.

You'll have the opportunity to develop new research area recommendations, perform technical assessments, introduce solutions, products, services and best practices to fit customer needs.

This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.

This requisition may be filled as either aSoftware Engineer or aPrincipal Software Engineer based on the qualifications below.

Basic Qualifications for a Software Engineer:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related STEM degree plus 2 years of relevant experience; or a Master of Science degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related STEM degree plus 0 or more years of relevant experience.

  • Experience with advanced programming languages such as Java, Javascript, Python and C++ Current, active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance, or higher.

  • Must possess or be able to obtain a DoD 8570 Certification for IAT Level II or higher within a reasonable timeframe from start date.

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Software Engineer:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related STEM degree plus5 years of relevant experience; or a Master of Science degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related STEM degree plus3 or more years of relevant experience.

  • Experience with advanced programming languages such as Java, Javascript, Python and C++ Current, active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance, or higher.

  • Must possess or be able to obtain a DoD 8570 Certification for IAT Level II or higher within a reasonable timeframe from start date.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Top Secret clearance

  • Security+ certification

  • Experience with Python, Java, C++ or JavaScript

  • Familiarity with agile software development methodology to improve the performance of ISR systems, including the AF DCGS including its network, security, GEOINT, SIGINT, Multi-INT, Sensors, operations, maintenance, interfaces, and other Intelligence or Intelligence related systems or items.

  • Experience with frameworks such as REACT, JQuery, Node, Angular

  • Cloud technologies such as Amazon Web Services or Pivotal Cloud Foundry
