U.S. Military Academy Assistant Professor in West Point, New York
About the Position: The U.S. Military Academy, West Point, NY is an academic institution located in the Hudson River Valley, 50 miles from New York City. The historic site is the oldest continuously occupied military post in America. West Point is a self contained city with housing, a Department of Public Works, libraries, hospital, fire department, chapels, and restaurants. You will educate and inspire cadets in the economics major.
You will engage in academic research and provide service to the department and the United States Military Academy.
You will play an active role in the development of junior faculty and engage with cadets in activities outside of the classroom.

Who May Apply: U.S. Citizens and Non-Citizens with Allegiance to the United States This is a full-time academic tenure-track position with an initial term appointment in the excepted service starting on or about June 28, 2021 and not to exceed 3 years. Term appointments may be extended beyond the initial term. Faculty who attain the academic rank of Associate Professor or Professor may have the opportunity to non-competitively receive a permanent appointment in the excepted service. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must (a) hold a bachelors degree or higher that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, OR (b) possess a combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above. SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR/KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Applicants will be evaluated on the following factors: 1) Academic accomplishment (Ph.D. is preferred) in economics or public policy; 2) Demonstrated ability to teach across the curriculum in the Economics Program; 3) Skilled in producing quality, publishable research in collaboration with fellow faculty; and, 4) Ability to provide academic and instructional mentorship to fellow junior faculty and cadets.
