ENT and Allergy Associates Medical Assistant in West Side, New York
ENT and Allergy Associates, New York & New Jersey's premier ENT and Allergy medical practice, is seeking a self-motivated, people-friendly Full Time Medical Assistant for our Upper West Side office.
Assists the doctors in the examination of patients, attempting to anticipate his/her needs, setting up rooms, and instruments
Enters patient histories and medications into patient?s charts that must be reviewed by MD. Makes sure that patient?s allergies are prominently displayed in chart
Assists the doctors in office surgical procedures, post op care, etc.
Performs some testing under the MD?s direction. (Tympanograms, Acoustic Rhinometry)
Cleans and prepares all instruments in the exam rooms, keeps exam rooms stocked with supplies and samples, makes sure rooms are ready for next day visits
Checks medications for expiration dates and orders replacements when needed
Maintains control over hazardous wastes, and medical equipment. Performs routine maintenance for certain medical equipment
Has some knowledge of medicine, prescriptions, dosages, etc. Calls in prescriptions for the doctors
Maintains an adequate supply of preprinted materials routinely dispensed by the doctor
Scans reports/labs into the Patients chart for physician review
Calls patients to schedule follow up appointments, at the physician?s discretion may also give results over the phone
Aids doctor in returning patient calls at appropriate times during the daily routine.
Fills all shortages of medical supplies with reorders, fills out all necessary paperwork when ordering
Precertifies all necessary procedures(CT Scans, MRI?s and office procedures) with the appropriate insurance company verifying eligibility, deductibles, copays, coverage of service with precert numbers to be used for billing purposes, prior to the services rendered. Enter precert info into the Managed Care Module.
Keep doctors aware of requirements of insurance companies as they pertain to the procedures allowable
Keeps the flow of patients in and out of exam rooms
Explains tests and procedures to patients when appropriate
Informs doctor when he/she is running behind schedule
Stays late beyond schedule when necessary
Deals with all Drug Representatives
Covers other offices on occasion
Bilingual (English/Spanish)Preferred. Fluency in both languages.
Required to float to other NYC locations when physician is not in the office.
Must be able to work in a fast paced environment
Must be able to work in independently
Must be flexible with schedule and able to work overtime when needed.
NextGen is a plus
Previous experience is a plus
Medical assistant certificate required
Must possess strong communication skills
Overtime is required, must have flexible schedule.
Hours are subject to change based on ohysicians schedule.
