AVP, Database Administrator

General Description

The AVP, Database Administrator is responsible for designing, building, and securing Apple Bank’s database environment and is directly involved in the execution of tactical and strategic data-related projects, and the participation in resource acquisition and allocation. The incumbent manages the resolution of production issues, as well as the implementation, support, and maintenance of our overall data services infrastructure and related services. Additionally, the Database Administrator handles all database application management, recovery, and security, including the management of on-premises SQL servers and internally, managed MySQL environments. The successful candidate will be the point of escalation for support/administration and database application across the Bank’s environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Track IT resources and maintain vendor/consultant and end-user relationships.

Provide design, maintenance, and support for Bank’s database environment.

Manage SQL server databases.

Configure and maintain database servers and processes.

Monitor the health and performance of all database systems, ensuring high levels of performance, availability and sustainability.

Secure and harden database applications and host operating systems.

Analyze, solve, and correct issues in real-time.

Provide infrastructure architecture when onboarding applications.

Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes.

Assist Data Managers with query tuning and schema refinement.

Provide after-hours support for critical production systems.

Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after-hours.

Skills, Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology required.

At least 6-8 years of work experience in a database management environment.

Experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator required.

Knowledge of SQL Server tools (SSMS, PerfMon, SSIS, and SSAS).

Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO).

Backups, restores, and recovery models.

High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL server.

Windows server, including Active Directory.

Experience with MY SQL server administration a plus.

Critical thinker and problem-solving skills.

Must have strong time management skills.
